New Hampshire’s Great North Woods has a tremendous amount to offer and Tall Timber Lodge is a great place to start. Here you’ll find general information about the lodge, services that are available locally, area attractions, day trips, and things to do while you’re here. For more detailed information, stop by the front desk for maps, brochures, and local advice about how to best enjoy your stay. Our staff is here to help you get the most out of your vacation.

Our front desk is open daily from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM during our Peak and Mid Seasons. During our Value Season, the front desk is open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Cell Service continues to improve in Pittsburg with the addition of several cell towers. Verizon and US Cellular customers have the best service. The contact number to provide to family and friends is 603-538-6651 or 800-835-6343 for our front desk.

If you have an emergency situation after office hours that must be dealt with immediately, you may reach an owner at 538-9589 or 538-6940.

Free Wi-Fi is available at the main lodge and the cabins on-site.

CHECK-IN
Check-In is after 3:00 pm. Early arrivals can use the facilities at the main lodge and begin to enjoy your day.
 
CHECK OUT
Check-out is at 10:30 am. Hitting the road early in the morning? We’ll be happy to handle your check-out the night before your departure.

MAINTENANCE
If you have any housekeeping or maintenance issues please contact our front desk or call 603-538-6651. If you have an issue with the condition of your unit, please allow us the opportunity to correct any problems while you are staying with us. Our staff is available to help ensure that your vacation is enjoyable.
 
EXTRA SUPPLIES
If you need extra towels, paper products, trash bags, etc., please ask the front desk staff.
 
DINING AT THE RAINBOW GRILLE
Rainbow Grille hours: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday – 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday & Saturday – 5:00 to 8:30 PM. Closed Monday & Tuesday.

Reservations are required for the Rainbow Grille. Reservations can be made directly on the
Rainbow Grille website.

We offer a Grab & Go Continental Breakfast.


The Grab & Go Breakfast order slips are available at the front desk which can be filled out the night before and then picked up starting at 8:00 AM the next morning.

Hours of operation for the Rainbow Grille & Tavern change during the off season.
 
ACTIVITIES / AMENITIES
We have kayaks, canoes, mountain bikes and paddle boats and adult and children’s snowshoes available at no charge to our guests which can be reserved at the front desk. DVDs, board games, jigsaw puzzles and books are available in the main lodge.
 
MAPS / DIRECTIONS
We have the Summer Recreation Map for sale in our Gift Shop. This map has many of the areas hiking trails, waterfalls, directions to lakes and ponds and other points of interest. Our Snowmobile and ATV Trail Maps are sold at the front desk. We also have Free brochures available in the main lodge for popular day hikes and points of interest in Vermont and Canada.

Bagged ice is available at the front desk.
 
CAMPFIRE WOOD
During summer, we sell campfire wood at the front desk to be used in the fire rings that we have provided. There are several cabins that do not have fire rings because of fire safety. Please use common sense before starting a fire during very dry or windy conditions.
 
BOAT RENTALS
We have a fleet of 14 foot fiberglass & aluminum boats with 6 HP motors for rent by the hour, half day or a full day, and we have small row boats on several of the outer ponds which are Free to our guests. We also have the Connie C, our pontoon boat which can hold up to 4 people. Boat rentals, the pontoon boat and the outer pond boats can be reserved at the front desk.
 
PETS
Pets are allowed in many of our pet friendly cabins. There is a charge of $20.00 per day, per pet. Guests are expected to pick up after and control pets while on premises and are responsible for any damages that might occur. Please do not allow your pet on the furniture or beds. Dog blankets are available at the front desk. Pets should be placed in their kennel when left alone for many hours in the cabin. No pets in Angler’s Cove, Bess, Maple, Mallard Rock, Cub’s, Wildwood, Luk’s Lakeview, Loon Landing, Hilltop, Timberdoodle, Lake House, Laroche Cabin and the Lodge Rooms.
 
HEATER SAFETY
Please do not place clothing, gloves, etc. on top of the heaters or too close to the gas wood stoves and fireplaces to prevent a fire. They are connected to thermostats so they will automatically turn on when the temperature lowers in the cabin. Please use caution.
 
SMOKING POLICY
Tall Timber Lodge, all of the cabins, and the Rainbow Grille & Tavern are smoke free. We have many cigarette receptacles located throughout the property to help keep our grounds clean. Please use them. Thank you.
 
LAUNDRY FACILITIES
Daley Wash Laundromat: Route 114 in West Stewartstown, NH. From Tall Timber, travel south on Route 3 for approximately 20 minutes to West Stewartstown. At the yellow blinking light, take a right onto Route 114. Daley Wash is located just a few blocks on the right.

More “Fun Things to Do” In Northern NH & VT’s Northeast Kingdom

  • Visit April’s Maple Sugar House in Averill, Vermont. Learn how maple syrup is made and enjoy a free sample of nature’s liquid gold. They have lots of maple products to take home too. April’s is accessible by snowmobile with a VT trail pass or visit on the Ride VT Weekend - Jan. 26, 27 and 28th, registration cost is $25 per snowmobile. Vermont requires liability insurance.

  • Star gazing in Pittsburg is amazing with its dark night sky. The Milky Way and the constellations look close enough to touch.

  • Go search for Moose Antler Sheds in January. You’ll need to get up super early and head out on your snowmobile to find them.

  • Visit Pittsburg’s NEW boutiques. North of the 45th Apparel Company - Super fun clothing, hats, funky sunglasses & more. The Urban Daughter - Details, details.   • NEW - 1840 Restaurant - Pittsburg’s new restaurant offering wood fired pizza and lots more. 1840 is located across from Pittsburg’s Town Common. Good food and a fun atmosphere. Check out the 1840.

  • Explore the Cohos Trail in Pittsburg. Snowshoe the Falls in The River Trail and the Moose Alley Trail.

  • Disconnect then reconnect with family and friends. Put down your devices and pick up an old fashioned board game, a jigsaw puzzle or a deck of cards. The lodge’s front office has what you need for a fun filled Family Game Night.

  • X-Country ski the snowmobile trail from Lake Francis State Park to the River Road Covered Bridge. Park at the boat ramp and follow the snowmobile trail through the campground and continue until you reach the River Road Covered bridge. After your ski, stop at The Buck Rub Pub for a Hot Chocolate or perhaps a Hot Toddy. Midweek in January and March is the best time to ski this trail.
